John Quincy Adams Fellowship
The John Quincy Adams Fellowship is an Educational Practitioner Fellowship dedicated to a deep understanding of the American Classical Leadership Education® (ACLE), which includes specialized workshops, structured mentorship, networking with field leaders, a retreat, and a unique opportunity to establish a documented demonstration of excellence as a scholar, writer/thinker, and liberal artist.
The Fellowship brings together a unique network of educators for a semester-long educational experience. The American Classical Lyceum is committed to the continual education of teachers, administrators, and leaders through our unique ACLE model.
We believe in absolute truth and man’s innate capacity to discover it, and we emphasize the particular way in which this education has manifested within the American ethos.
The Lyceum will educate fellows in subjects such as the history of classical education, the manners and methods of the ACLE model, classical leadership in the TK-12 setting, and the unique opportunity that learning and teaching in the American tradition can serve in restoring America’s heritage. These topics are developed by leading scholars in the American Classical Lyceum network. Fellows will receive the readings in advance of the Fellowship. The program is designed to help fellows grow in their moral and intellectual development while also carrying these ideas back to their classrooms and schools.
About the Fellowship
Study Commitments:
5hrs/reading per week
2hrs/writing, editing or research per week via Canvas
90 minutes for LIVE class Zoom calls twice a month
1 in-person retreat, scheduled for early June, 2027
The 2027 Fellowship will run from approximately January 1, 2027, until approximately June 15, 2027 with an ample “break” in May for teachers and administrators to attend to end of year duties.
Who Should Apply?
The John Quincy Adams Fellowship seeks educators, board members, and school leaders who are already recognized as leaders in their schools and communities: who aspire to become mentors and teacher-trainers within a rigorous American classical model. Ideal candidates bring deep subject-matter knowledge, a commitment to the liberal arts tradition, and a desire to shape not just their own classrooms but also the formation of their colleagues. These are the teachers of teachers: men and women who understand that the renewal of classical education depends not only on properly educating children, but properly educating other mentors first.

Total Cost to Fellow: $250 + Travel
Fellowship Tuition: $1,000
Lyceum Donor Support: $750
Fellow Responsibility: $250 + Travel to Roseville, CA
The $250 fee helps cover program materials, advance readings, and discussion leaders, with the remaining tuition generously funded by Lyceum donors.
Fellows are responsible for travel and are encouraged to seek professional development funding through their school or organization to help offset these costs.
The Alumni Network:
Upon completion, Fellows will join an alumni network of educators in varied fields located across the country. Fellows and alumni receive invitations to exclusive networking and social events provided through the American Classical Lyceum.
